PC Computers Vs Mac Computers
My friend Claudia has been getting to know the Mac computers at work. She finds it confusing for her in getting used to the Mac. She has found it to be a little backwards from the PC. As she goes along she says it's getting a little better and easier to use. I know for myself it was confusing at first to use a Mac. Getting used to the tools that were on the computer and the formatting to do assignments for my technology class is getting better. The one thing I like about the Mac computer though is that you won't get any Virus'. Where as a PC your susceptible to virus'. Have you heard the new slogan for MAC's now. Once you go MAC you never go back.
Advancing in Technology
I remember back in the day when I was in school and the my Technology teacher who was Kevin Girouard at the time introduced us to computers. Commador 64 computers to be exact. We were able do assignments and play games on these computers. Not everyone had a computer in our community. We only knew of a couple of families in our community that had a computer. Man.. have times really changed from back then. In those days, I thought that we were some lucky to be able to use computers in our school. Now in today's society every school has computers in their classrooms or a computer lab. It's nice to see how we have grown with the times and to be so advanced with the Technology.

Multi Media Club
Kelvin Simonson and his Mutli Media Club are doing wonderful work here in Eel Ground School. They have found innovative ways to use technology. They have been working on different projects thoughout this time and have successfully found different ways to use technology in short film productions, I have found this group of teenagers to be very dedicated in thier work environment. Kelivin has a great group of students working on this club. Good work guys!
Drama Award
Eel Ground School Drama club have used Drama to get a positive message of "Hope". They have recently been nominated for the Kiasier Foundation Award of Excellence in aboriginal programming. I am proud to say that they have won this award for the "Simon Bishop Story". With thier efforts to help others on teenage stress and suicide this was thier way to give awareness on how important it is to help individuals that may be facing strees in thier lives, or may be thinking of suicide. They wanted to give a powerful message of "Hope" that there is help out there within your communities wether it's talking to parents, a councillor or and elder in your community. As a parent in this community, I am so proud of these students. These students have used a powerful tool through DRAMA to get ther message out to the communities across Canada, and help those who have been affecting by teen strees and suicide. My daughter and I will be travelling to Calgary in a couple of weeks to accept this award on behalf of the Eel Ground school Drama club, I couldn't be more proud of my daughter Felicia.

Blogging between Students an Teachers
I think that all students should be able to do their homework or reports on the computer. Not only for school but to able to be in contact with the teacher through blogging. Students are always wanting to get in touch with thier teachers about homework. So I think that if they have a system in place on how thier able get in contact with thier teachers on any concerns that they might have, will help them understand what the teacher wants from the students regarding homework assignments.

Finally getting the hang of MAC Computers!
Getting the hang of using a Mac computer was very frustrating for me. The programs on the computer seemed to be backwards from using a PC. Lets take the Text edit program for instance, I had a hard time getting used to this program when writing my documents. I found out later that microsoft office, was a compatable program in Mac computers. I was so happy to find out that now I was able to use this program in writing my documents. Yah.. I am getting used to Mac's now since I have been working with them for awhile. Like they say once you go Mac you never go Back...

Computers can be so complicating at times.
I have to say that computers and emailing can be so complicating at times. I was trying to email my instructor today and I wasn't getting though to him. I am really considering on buying a Mac soon. This PC that I have is really frustrating me. My daughter even said "mom we really should upgrade and get a Mac computer you wouldn't have any trouble with them". So if my 14 yr old is suggesting that i should get a Mac computer then who knows more about technology then I do? Well her of course. LOL.
How Rewarding Blogging Could Be
Since we began this course, we've had to create a blog and post on how we feel about certain topic or what is has been going on all around us. We'll for me, I have to say that I wasn't too keen about blogging. Somedays I wasn't quite sure about what I wanted to say or even talk about. The positive aspect about it though was just writing about what I felt about what was going on around me, and it wasn't so bad. You basically could say what ever you want and that was it. Now, I getting used to blogging and knowing that you will be marked on what you have to say.. can be rewarding.

How a computer program is helping me with my typing skills?
Technology in our household is being used everyday. My children are constantly on the computer searching information on thier school projects. Not to mention, playing educational games on the home computer. I'm learning something new everyday. My daughter recently introducted a typing prigram that i could use to improve my typing skills. I found it very funny, when she said to me ''mom here is a typing program that you can use online and practice while were at school". She is always looking out for all of us, just like a mother hen. I am very fortunate to have children that know a lot about computer Technology.

Understanding how to use technogy
I really have a hard time trying to use the technology around me. I have to say I have come along way. I learn something new everyday wether it is from Jeff my instructor in this class, or my children at home. They are so into computers, and they know what to do when something goes wrong with it. I know that when I was thier age I wasn't fortunate to have a computer in our home. You see, I come from a family of eight children myself being the youngest of the rest. The only time we were able to use a computer was when we were in school, or a friend we knew had a computer at there home. So now for my children they are fortunate enough to be able to have a home computer and a lap top in thier home, something I didn't have. They love it. So do I, now that I'm learning to use it. LOL.

How secure is the Internet?
The discussion about how secure we are on the internet? Well, after hearing about how not so private and secure the internet really is? This has brought a lot to my attention on how much privacy we really have when we are on the internet. I know for sure I won't be using my webcam ever again. I have to say that it's so violating on how hackers can get into your computer and get all your info online. I know now I do not leave my computers on anymore. I had a discussion with my family about this and they never thought that this could ever happen.

How my kids are in-tuned with Technology
Hello Everyone!
I have to say the my kids are pretty good with technology in my household. I got home from school Monday night, and my 7 year old was on the computer of course. She had recieved some Webkinz for christmas. We were not aware at the time, that you can go online with these plush toys and play educational games on this website. She would not only play games, but have to care for her webkinz. She would have to feed them, shelter them and purchase furniture with webkin dollars. Not to mention take them to the doctor for check-ups. Pretty neat if you ask me.
